ORIGINS | Soul Artist Journal WI25 PRINT

ON BACK ORDER until 2/11/2026

The first issue of the Soul Artist Journal, ORIGINS, spans 170 vibrant pages. It features cover artist, photographer and environmentalist: Natalie Karpushanko. Stories include Masood Ali Khan, Simrit, Marlow Brooks, Mauri Pioppo, Paul Zolbrod, Faith Hunter, Katie Wise and more…

the inspiration:

"Origins" conjures images of beginnings. It dangles the idea of genesis and intimates the unseen forces from which things emerge. For a Soul Artist, "Origins" conjures a sense of mystery and potential. It invites you to reflect on the tapestry of everything, to contemplate the cosmos, and remember your personal lineage. Beginnings are points of departure. Beginnings are the beacons that point the way toward home. Beginnings are the sutras, the threads that weave the past and future around this moment, now.

"Origins" is the foundation where creative freedom takes root. This issue will invite you to unearth the hidden treasures and forgotten stories that lie beneath the surface of the everyday human experience. Linger here in these generative soils to rebuild the structures of your identity, your cultural heritage, and your unique expression of the creative cosmos. Because the imagery of the "Origins" belongs to you. It is both grandiose and intimate. It includes the birth of stars, the swirling nebulae from which planets coalesce. It includes your first childhood memory. The interplay between the macro and micro are the origins of this poem. And by "poem," I mean this first issue of the Soul Artist Journal. May the rhythm and cadence of "Origins" unfold like a beloved story that provides real movement at the level of your soul.

As you peruse these pages, through the beauty and the chaos, you will be reminded that "Origins" carries an inherent duality—it is about both what is known and unknown. We succumb to the allure in this quest to trace things back to their original source, but we also remember that the whole story can never be told. Some treasures were never meant to be found. Let them remain in the fertile ground for our collective imagination, as we relish the sacred space where questions resound more harmoniously than answers.

This first issue of the Soul Artist Journal is an invitation to enter. Explore what is possible. Get intimate with the primal forces that constitute existence. Find inspiration inside the shadows and the light. We invite you to celebrate the beginnings and endings in the cyclical dance of life. This is how we make meaning.

The Soul Artist Journal features mystic visionaries: artists and poets; mythologists, musicians and ministers; adventurers and healers. It is a gallery of soul stories, poetry and images so unique that each issue may become a collector’s edition in its own right.

Published quarterly, in digital and print, the magazine presents topics that align with Nature’s rhythms and the current cultural climate. ESPERANZA | Soul Artist Journal SP25 PRINT

The Soul Artist imagines a vast future: brimming with infinite possibility and also eternally empty, waiting to be designed. And redesigned. We call upon the forces of courage and creativity; resilience and optimism for a deeper human connection.

We choose hope.

It is an audacious choice.

Despite economic struggles, health challenges, or personal losses; inside the realities of social conflict and rampant pessimism,

We dare to dream.

We trust the profound promise found in Nature–plant medicine, water remedies and the restorative power of fresh air. We have confidence in the stars.

We believe in basic goodness. The nectar of human kindness springs forever, here.

ESPERANZA is the second issue of Soul Artist Journal

Through these pages, we celebrate those who follow the lead of ESPERANZA as she rises, both fierce and compassionate, over the din of doubt. We honor the light-bearers, the truth-finders and the dream-weavers. We honor those who hold the tension of the opposites with grace; who walk the middle way path of inspired action. ESPERANZA makes us bold. We feel our hearts healing. We believe our words– our movement–can inspire. We recognize the value in eight billion stories and open our ears to listen. We open our eyes to see. ESPERANZA makes us brave. She drives us forward on our quest for peace and freedom, knowing that they are both as close as our next breath.

Here, in this Soul Artist Journal we actively seek initiatives and solutions; aspiration and momentum to redesign the eternal emptiness with Love. We are rewarded here, by the proof our shared humanity.

May this issue of Soul Artist Journal be like a lighthouse to the mind, for anyone who is weary on the cynical seas of social division. May you feel your heart healing and know that your words– your movement–can inspire.

Singing Our Heart's Song: A Guide to the Five Elements and Plant Spirit Healing

Author: Marlow Brooks

SECOND EDITION

This book is a beautiful synthesis of Marlow’s decades of internal cultivation and study of the Five Element system of medicine. This is most poignantly illustrated by her inclusion of the works from her students.

Chinese medicine has always been a collective endeavor. For thousands of years, human beings have drawn upon a deep desire to know themselves and how to apply those discoveries to the process of healing. This is how Chinese medicine evolves and grows to continuously meet the needs of the current era. The sign of a wise and cultivated teacher, in my opinion, is one who creates spaces for his or her students to discover their own wisdom in ways that vitalize and perpetually transform the field of medicine. In this endeavor, Chinese medicine continues to evolve through the eager hearts of empowered leaders. The multiplicity of voices forms a larger melody that contains a kind of beauty, elegance, and potency only available through collective expression. This book is an exquisite example of a collective offering that will add to the development of Chinese medicine as a healing art.”

— Alexander LoveM. Ac., Acupuncturist & Coach,Professor, Academy for Five Element Acupuncture, Associate Professor, Southwest Acupuncture College

Marlow Brooks has taught Five Element Plant Spirit Healing to students at Naropa University in Boulder, CO for over twenty years. Singing Our Heart’s Song includes the fresh and lively voices of students from as far back as 1998, woven together by a thread of Marlow’s voice and her artwork. May it open doors to a new way of knowing and being human, and provide a path for greater transformation within ourselves and our community.

TEA PARTY
Warm your body & soul with our TEA COLLECTION.

I have been a tea enthusiast for as long as I can remember. As a child, I loved the refreshment of peppermint leaves from the garden, or the sweet orange flavor of a Bengal Spice.

As a roving gypsy soul in my twenties and thirties, I traveled to nearly every continent, I became an experience-seeker and a story-hunter. Browsing open-air markets in Sardinia, Monrovia, Rishikesh, Santa Fe, and Chiang Mai.., I imagined myself an old-world explorer. I obsessed over the folk art–textiles, incense, masks, pottery, and jewels of both Native America and far-away lands. I discovered a treasury of teas from pekoe to matcha along the silk roads of my travels.

One of my favorite enchantments has remained the rasa of healing herbs and exotic spices found inside the tea-cup. Tea invites you to recharge and unwind. It provides warming inspiration or cool contentment.

I am delighted to bring you some favorite flavors from fair-trade, organic distributors who strive to keep their footprint small, but their impact large. Shop Online or host a Soul Artist Tea Party to tour the world through the stories and spices found inside your cup.

Sincerely,
